As a Christmas gift, I decided to redesign Chad's room. Now that he's a "tween", it was time for an upgrade. So take a look at few pics taken during the transformation and after.

1 yr in "Natural Review"
Well, as promised, here are a few pics of what my hair has done this past year. Not going to go into all of the reasons why I went natural, why I'm staying natural (for now)... just know that I love being me and not conforming to society's standards is right up my alley! Just like when my hair was relaxed, some days are better than others so I will only show those days that I felt were "good hair days" :-) Some pics were taken with my camera phone so they may not be as crisp visually. Enjoy my video.

1 yr Natural Anniversary!!!
September 30, 2007 I made the decision to cut off my perm and wear my hair in its natural kinky, curly, coily state. LOL Its been a lot of work trying to maintain natural hair and at times the creamy crack (a perm) was calling me. Throughout the year I learned which products work for me and which don't. I learned how to style my hair that suits me and not others. I've gotten many compliments and of course many stares. I guess alot of folks are still in the mindset that straight is best and more acceptable in society. Oh well, I still rock it well and have the option and versatility to straighten if/when I want too. I digress..... I'm getting a bit bored with this style so I had my Aunt Pat put in a few corn rows on the side and it gave me a different look. Now, I must tweek that style for better presentation. LOL
I will post a comparison shot later today.
Like I stated previously, this year was hard. I've been having creamy crack visions and almost caved in. That creamy crack is wack but it keeps calling me! LOL LOL LOL

The evil ways of Hurricane Hannah!!
So because of the residuals for Hannah, I decided to take my car through emissions and since there weren't too many people out, I swung by Sears Essentials and WalMart. While cruising the isles waiting out the high winds to die down, I thought of the notion to re-decorate my master bathroom. I found some great deals this weekend (that's why I'm broke always spending extra change) and couldn't pass them up: fabric shower curtain for $11 (usually $30-$40), a bamboo bath rug, magazine/paper caddy, and pictures for $10. So design on a dime for $45!
Curse you Hannah for depleting my pockets unnecessarily!

Compliments/Hair stories
Its nice to hear a compliment from one woman to another. I give out compliments when I see a person who stands out or looking fabulous that day (female or male). I received the nicest compliment this morning about my hair. I was a bit surprised because I felt I was having a bad hair day! Its amazing what others see that you don't.
Since my natural hair journey began 11 months ago, I've gotten may compliments about my style to questions on who does my hair. Now that is funny! Growing up I played with barbies but never got the knack of styling hair. Prayed that my first child would be a boy so that I wouldn't traumatize the child with my ghastly hair styling! Anyway, I will be posting some pics next month/end of the month to commemorate my 1yr of "naturalness".

Vacationing at home
How is it that Chad is jet-setting to FL and the Bahamas and I'm home?!!!!
:-) LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Catching up with friends
I haven't been on in a while but I've been busy with a little thing called "LIFE".
I digress, the purpose of this post is to talk about how you meet people throughout your life and how you lose contact only to come full circle again years later.
Last week I ran into 2 acquaintances I met 3 yrs ago and lost contact with. Now this wasn't my doing, I would keep in touch via email or a call here or there but when it becomes 1 sided, you kind of get tired of reaching out. Anyway, 1 of the acquaintances is actually working with me (again). How ironic is that?
Went to concert over the weekend and ran into person from High School. She was a upper classman but in that instant I remembered her name and asked about my Sr. Sister from High School. I lost touch with her when she went to college and always asked about her. I've "Googled" her name many times but wasn't sure of her location. Anyway, I was pointed in the direction of social networking site that I belong to and sent an invitation with a brief note reminding her of who I was. Well, she responded and left me her email address! I'm so happy I found her just to catch up and see how's she's doing. She really made a impact on my life that I carried with me til this day. She was always the "lady" and was always encouraging.
Life always come full circle.

Indigo
Feeling blue as a pair of indigo jeans. Feeling like the color of the sky at night. Listening to the blues to only feel deeper in the "blues". At this moment, today is a new day and the sun will shine to wipe away my indigo "blues".

Long time no post
It's been a while since I posted. Chad is about finished school for the year and we have been gearing up for the summer break. Visiting friends I haven't seen in a while was a really refreshing and meeting my new God Son has been inspiring. All of this to say that things happen in your life that makes you go through where you are and where you want to be in life. After reaccessing (what I do often) I know that I am not where I want to be. I will continue to learn (spiritually and academcially), never stop loving (no matter if it is not recepricated), and never give up.

Exercise
My friend, MisssLady, went biking over the weekend and I must say, I tip my hat to her. I keep saying how I need to exercise more and have yet to put a plan into action. With MisssLady trying to get fit is encouraging me. Although I've been eating healthy and have been able to lose weight, I still need to incorporate physical activity. We shall see what I can do. :-)

New Vice
Now I have a myspace page. LOL LOL LOL #1 reason I have no business with a myspace page is that I had to enlist the help of my 15 yr old sister to hook the graphics up! LOL

Relationships
Why is it that any type of relationship you have be it family or dating, the dynamics of it all can be so stressful? I look to my relationships for guidance, serenity, and overall people I can rely on that will keep me focused on what's most important: LOVE
When you give love in all that you do for people, they take it for granted and don't realize it until there are consequences.
Love is not supposed to hurt and if it does, then it's not Love.

Home Improvement
So I'm reading this book regarding clearing clutter from your home and life with Feng Shui. It is a process and I began de-cluttering my home to improve the energy that flows within. Time to stop blocking my positive energy with negative energy. Time to rid my home of items that were either given to me or I don't use since there is a transfer of energy in the item itself. I'm not saying that I don't appreciate the gesture of giving me something but if I'm going to be successful at minimizing my space and simplifying my life, it's time to rid myself of all clutter big or small.
The de-cluttering process started 2 weeks ago when I began reading my book and I implemented some changes over the weekend. I have to say, I feel revitalized and full of energy when I walk into the space that I de-cluttered and when I glance over at it.

Long time posting
Since I'm the busy woman that I am, I don't post as much as I would like. I used that time to focus on my son and his studies (making sure he is doing the best he can and beyond), and working. Finally finished last quarter of school so I'm gearing up for Summer Session. I will take 3 classes a quarter. I want to finish my degree by 09'. It will be tough but I can do it. I'm carrying a 3.0 GPA so I know I can swing taking 3 classes. I'm determined to do it so I will success. I know I won't be posting as much when Summer Session starts. :-)

Finally Over!
I had sinus surgery and let me tell you recovery is no fun. My face hurts and teeth hurt. Apparently, I was biting down on the breathing tube and in recovery, my teeth ached. I'm groggy but yet restless. I can't sleep laying down I have to sleep sitting up or propped up as if I'm sitting straight up. I can only eat light (jello, clear soups/chicken noodle, apple sauce etc). I did have a few cookies. :-) Well just wanted to post before I laid oops, sit up to sleep. LOL

Surgery is getting closer
Well, surgery is this week and I'm not prepared at all. Mentally, I'm not thinking about it. I guess the night before will be when I don't sleep because I'm nervous. Oh well. I will post again once the surgery is done.

Sinus issues - AGAIN!
Well, the time has come that after 20+ years of allergy and sinusitis, I must have surgery. My cousin had it done 3 months ago and has a new lease on life. I will be honest, I am not too keen on going under the knife but I will be very thankful that I can finally breathe, taste, and smell 100% better afterwards. Surgery will be towards the end of this month (after little man's birthday) or the beginning of March.

Happy New Year!
Well, with the New Year comes new perspectives and ambitions. Shouldn't you strive for change every day not because it's a new year? Time waits for no one so why wait until the new year to make a change in your life? That's what living life everyday means, live it everyday not when it's a special occasion or the new year. Just a thought.
