September 30, 2007 I made the decision to cut off my perm and wear my hair in its natural kinky, curly, coily state. LOL Its been a lot of work trying to maintain natural hair and at times the creamy crack (a perm) was calling me. Throughout the year I learned which products work for me and which don't. I learned how to style my hair that suits me and not others. I've gotten many compliments and of course many stares. I guess alot of folks are still in the mindset that straight is best and more acceptable in society. Oh well, I still rock it well and have the option and versatility to straighten if/when I want too. I digress..... I'm getting a bit bored with this style so I had my Aunt Pat put in a few corn rows on the side and it gave me a different look. Now, I must tweek that style for better presentation. LOL
I will post a comparison shot later today.
Like I stated previously, this year was hard. I've been having creamy crack visions and almost caved in. That creamy crack is wack but it keeps calling me! LOL LOL LOL

The evil ways of Hurricane Hannah!!
So because of the residuals for Hannah, I decided to take my car through emissions and since there weren't too many people out, I swung by Sears Essentials and WalMart. While cruising the isles waiting out the high winds to die down, I thought of the notion to re-decorate my master bathroom. I found some great deals this weekend (that's why I'm broke always spending extra change) and couldn't pass them up: fabric shower curtain for $11 (usually $30-$40), a bamboo bath rug, magazine/paper caddy, and pictures for $10. So design on a dime for $45!
Curse you Hannah for depleting my pockets unnecessarily!

Compliments/Hair stories
Its nice to hear a compliment from one woman to another. I give out compliments when I see a person who stands out or looking fabulous that day (female or male). I received the nicest compliment this morning about my hair. I was a bit surprised because I felt I was having a bad hair day! Its amazing what others see that you don't.
Since my natural hair journey began 11 months ago, I've gotten may compliments about my style to questions on who does my hair. Now that is funny! Growing up I played with barbies but never got the knack of styling hair. Prayed that my first child would be a boy so that I wouldn't traumatize the child with my ghastly hair styling! Anyway, I will be posting some pics next month/end of the month to commemorate my 1yr of "naturalness".
